New Delhi: Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag on Saturday departed for violence-hit areas of Assam to review the situation where NDFB(S) militants carried out a deadly attack on tribals, leaving over 80 dead.
General Suhag will first visit Guwahati and then Sonitpur and Kokrajhar, where militants belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit Faction) killed tribals on Tuesday.
Officials will brief Suhag there about the situation on the ground and the operation the Army has launched against the militants.
The death toll in the attacks by NDFB (S), retaliatory violence by tribals and police firing has risen to 81.
Notify that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had called General Suhag on Friday and after meeting Suhag ensure that the Army is going to intensify its operations against the NDFB militants.
