Mumbai: Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis on Friday had ordered investigation against dormer deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and state NCP president Sunil Tatkare in multi-crore irrigation scam. Maharashtra CM had accepted the proposal of the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to conduct an “open-enquiry” against them.
Fadnavis made an announcement to this effect in the Maharashtra Assembly today.
ACB had made the proposal to conduct inquiry when Maharashtra was under President’s rule prior to October Assembly Elections. The files were later transferred to the CM’s office.
The Home department has already given its nod for the inquiry.
Ajit Pawar and Tatkare were in charge of water resources department at different times during the Congress-NCP regime.
Meanwhile BJP, then in the opposition, had alleged irregularities in the irrigation projects which causes Rs 70,000 crore scam.
On a question over the inquiry, NCP leader Shashikant Shinde said that his party had no issue with the inquiry.
