#Islamabad: The advisor of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Saturday that security forces of Pakistan and Afghanistan have been agreed to join hands to carry out coordinated operations against terrorists along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
A report in Dawn claimed that Aziz on Friday stated that the massacre by the Tehreek-e-Taliban in a Peshawar school was “Pakistan’s 9/11”, adding that the Afghan leadership in Kabul assured the Pakistani army full cooperation in countering terrorism.
The remarks of advisors had came just a few days after Chief of Army Staff (#COAS) General #RaheelSharif travelled to #Kabul where he secured assurances from #Afghan #President #AshrafGhani as well as International Security Assistance Force (#ISAF) commander #General #JosephDunford of complete cooperation in security-related matters.
Aziz also said that Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi has not been released and the government was reviewing a petition regarding his case. Rehman is the alleged mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Aziz also said that standard operating procedures for better border management between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been finalize and would be presented for approval before a joint military group meeting expected to take place shortly.
