Agra: The mass conversion of 200 #Muslims in Uttar Pradesh’s #Agra on Monday into Hindu community had outrage sparks in Parliament on Wednesday and Opposition had demanded for the explanation of government.
Opposition leaders in Rajya Sabha had attacked on Bharatiya Janata Party (#BJP) over the conversion ceremony which had been reportedly organized by Rashtriya Swayamswvak Sangh (#RSS). RSS had announced for another event in #Aligarh.
#Congress leader Anand Sharma said, “The House and the country need a reassurance that the Constitution will not be violated.”
Notify that police complaint had been registered by the villager who alleged that 57 families chosen from a rag-pickers’ colony were given inducements to convert.
One of the converter said, “We were told we will get ration card, #Aadhar card, the police will not bother us. We are poor so what do we do?”
Cases of cheating and promoting enmity have been filed by policemen who visited the families late last night.
RSS, activists of Bajrang Dal and Dharam Jagran Samanvay Vibhagh (#DJSV) had described the ceremony as “homecoming”.
The organizers claim that the families were originally Hindu and converted to Islam around 30 years ago.
#Union #Minister #Mukhtar #Abbas #Naqvi meanwhile said, “We are equally responsible for safeguarding secularism. AN FIR has been registered in Agra. It is not right to drag in the name of a group for politics. The name of RSS should be dropped.”
Congress leader #Digvijay Singh however counter Naqvi and said, “It is not a question of a political group. Any inducement to convert is a crime and we want to know what the government is doing.”
