Rajiv Mehta appointed as new #DGP of #Meghalaya: #Chief #SecretaryMeghalaya: Dehradun-based Rajiv Mehta, who began his career as a teacher at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, is now a top cop in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). His mission: to end strife in conflict ridden north-east India, Chief Secretary P.B.O. Warjri said.

Currently serving as the Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Delhi, the 1981 Assam-Meghalaya IPS cadre will join office in about 10 days time, he said. Mehta replaces P.J.P. Hanaman who retired on December 31 and will take charge from acting DGP S.K. Jain.

“I am looking forward to serve the people of Meghalaya in the capacity of DGP,” Mr. Mehta said.

An alumnus of St. Columba’s and St Stephen’s College of Delhi, Mr. Mehta had also taught for two years at Lawrence School, Sanawar, before joining the Indian Police Service. He has also served with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as an IG.
