Mumbai: Gangster Abu Salem and two other had been convicted by a Special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) court on Monday in 1995 Pradeep Jain murder case.
The special trial judge had completed the trial of Abu Salem, Mehdi Hassan and a builder Virendra Jhamb.
Over property dispute, Abu Salem had got killed Pradeep Jain, said police.
Pradeep Jain was a city-based builder and was shot dead outside his Juhu bungalow on March 7, 1995.
Nameem Khan, an accused in the case had turned approver. Riyaz Siddiqui, another accused in the case had turned approver then retracted and is being tried separately. Salem and other accused denied their role in the case.
Notify that Siddiqui who had given a detailed statement to the police, had later denied his and Salem’s roles in the killing. The prosecution had then declared him hostile.
Salem is an accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. He was extradited from Portugal on November 11, 2005, after a prolonged legal battle and is since in judicial custody.
