Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ poster releases on Kangana’s Ranaut 28th birthday

#Mumbai: #Bollywood   The makers of Tanu Weds Manu Returns on Monday launched the motion poster of the film in a glitzy event to mark the 28th birthday of its leading star, Kangana Ranaut. In the first look of Anand L Rai’s film, Kangana is seen in a double role of a shy bride and a tomboy, with male lead R Madhavan sitting in the middle donning a wedding attire.

Kangana, who cut a two-tier cake in the presence of media persons and the film’s unit, said it was Anand’s idea to launch the first motion poster of the film on her birthday. “The film was supposed to release in July but Anand decided to release it by May end now. It was Anand’s decision to release the first look today and celebrate my birthday with you all as we are shooting it here,” she told reporters here. Often termed as the lady Aamir Khan of Bollywood, Kangana, who celebrated her birthday with the press like the PK star, said she is his fan.

“I really appreciate what he does as he is a friend. We both don’t have such intentions. It’s just that we have always celebrated birthday with family and friends and we just got the chance to celebrate our birthday with media,”she said. Kangana said the film has been a memorable one in her career as it helped her to be a “successful actress”. “I bagged the script when I had no work in the industry and it turned out to be an unexpected hit. It was a first film of its kind which despite having small-budget became a hit,” she said. “The film will always be close to my heart as I did the film when I was a nobody in the industry but now I am successful,” the Queen star said.

The actress who was donning a crop top and a long skirt by Sabyasachi, feels her sister’s gift (a kanjivaram saree) is the best birthday present.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns which is a sequel to the hit 2011 movie Tanu Weds Manu, been produced by Eros International and is releasing onMay 29. Anand said it was an “emotional and exciting” journey to helm the project after four years. “The film shows how the characters have grown up in these four years. The new script starts where the last one ends. The only difference is that we have two Kanganas this time,” Anand said. “The whole unit is like a family to me,” said the director, who is planning to launch the film’s trailer in Mumbai next month.

Madhavan, who is returning to Bollywood after a sabbatical of three years, is excited about the project as the film deals with the complexities in relationships in today’s fast-paced life. “The film revolves around the complexities in contemporary relationships. How these smart phones today play a major role in making or breaking a relationship,” he said.
