New Delhi: On Earth Day, sharing a Vedic mantra that will be the hallmark to lead us to sustainable future “माता भूमिः पुत्रोऽहं पृथिव्याः” (The Earth is our Mother & we are her children. Earth Day is the perfect occasion to reaffirm our commitment to keep our Planet clean, green and focus on sustainable development,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
“We belong to a culture that believes in the Mantra- Earth is our Mother and we are her children. Caring for the environment is an integral part of our ethos. India can truly show the way to the world in mitigating climate change,” he said in a series of tweets.
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
Internet giant Google has come up with yet another animated doodle to wish its users Happy Earth Day. The visitors on the page are greeted with a dynamic doodle in which the letter ‘O’ of the word Google is depicted as a rotating Earth with images of different animals superimposed on it.
Google has also placed a share button just below the doodle. When a user clicks on it, Google shares the doodle on Twitter, Facebook or Google+.
It’s Earth Day Today. And It’s Time To Say Sorry To The Future Generation For What We’ve Done. First celebrated in 1970, the day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.
