New Delhi: In what could spell fresh trouble for Sahara chief Subrata Roy, the Supreme Court has asked the company to reply to the notice sent by Income Tax department.
The SC was responding to a petition filed by the I-T department in the tax filing case. The Tax department had on February 13 filed a complaint in the court against the company and its directors, Subrata Roy, J B Roy, O P Srivastava and Ranoj Das Gupta for not filing income tax return of the company for 2013-14.
The Delhi High Court, however, last month spared Roy from facing trial in an income tax case by staying the proceedings and the warrant issued to him. They have been booked for the offence of Section 276 CC of the IT Act which deals with failure to furnish return of income in due time.
