New Delhi: Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with nearly 800 students from nine states, President Pranab Mukherjee himself turned teacher today and taught school students about the country’s political history. This is for the first time that an Indian President has interacted with students on the eve of teachers’ day.
Here is what the President said:
- My mother, teachers are responsible for what I am today: President

The President interacted with the students of Class XI and XII of Dr Rajendra Prasad Sarvodhya Vidhalaya, which is located in the Presidential Estate. As per PTI, the students assembled on the ‘Knowledge Floor’ and listened to their new teacher. Later on, the President will also address nearly 100 teachers.
The idea was mooted by none other than Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy Manish Sisodia. The President liked the idea and gave his consent for the same.
In fact, the Delhi government has even been advertising for the President’s class. September 5 is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in memory of birth anniversary of former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
