#Lucknow: #Delhi The Supreme Court appointed Lokayukta justice (retired) Virendra Singh on Wednesday said he would strive hard to root out corruption from society.
“I will strive hard to root out corruption from the society,” Virendra Singh said.
Singh said he was yet to get orders of his appointment as the new Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh. “I will decide my priorities and future course of action only for my new job after taking oath as the Lokayukta,” said Singh while replying to a question.
Asked whether the Supreme Court’s decision has come to him as a surprise, Singh said the process of appointment of new Lokayukta had been going on for long. “Many retired judges were being considered for the post. But I was not very keen for the same as I already hold office of chairman State Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum. I will however do whatever necessary after assuming the Lokayukta’s post,” Singh said.
