#Patna: #Bihar CM In nine hours on Monday, Nitish Kumar heard about 1000 complaints as he resumed his interaction with the public in what is called the “Janata Ke Darbar Mein Mukhya Mantri” or Chief Minister in the people’s court.The session, the first held by the Bihar chief minister in his new term, lasted till late in the evening on Monday. “The CM interacted with people for over nine hours and heard the grievances of a total of 1,007 people, including 218 women,” Mr Kumar’s office said in a statement.
Nitish Kumar looked into the complaints on the police, land reforms, general administration, and the registration department and directed Bihar’s police chief PK Thakur and other senior officials to help the complainants.
#Bihar #CM #NitishKumar began the #Janata #Durbar in April 2006, not long after he became chief minister of Bihar for the first time. He meets people on Mondays of the first three weeks of a month. Government ads announce in advance what issues will be taken up at the next durbar.
The ‘Janata Durbar’ was discontinued after September last year as a model code of conduct was enforced ahead of the Bihar elections held in October and November. Nitish Kumar swept back to power, leading an alliance of three parties to a massive victory over the BJP.
The chief minister holds the Janata Durbar at his official residence in Patna. Officials said the session will be more transparent and will provide more help to the people in its latest version.
Hundreds of people from the different parts of the state, including far off villages, visit the chief minister’s residence to have their complaints attended to personally by #NitishKumar
