#Guwahati : Rabindra Nath Tagore, Gurudev who gave us ‘Jana Gana Mana’, was the greatest poet and writer India could ever have. His subtle artistic sense, his contextual modernism, his wisdom, his modern thinking, his wide experience of life and deep understanding of human character was well reflected through his immortal novels and short stories. The uncommon beauty of his language and style as a poet, a painter, a patriot, a philosopher, a novelist, an educationist, singer, story writer, essayist, critic and constructive worker have been of great treasure to us.
Tagore also became the first Indian, even the first non-european to get awarded with the Nobel Prize in literature. He blessed us with “Geetanjali”, “Gora”, “Rabindra Sangeet”, “Amar Shonar Bangla” (Bangladesh’s Nationa Anthem), “Ghare-Baire” and many others art works which are beyond comparision till date. We look upon him as the source of beauty and knowledge and as the inspiration of many noble thought and great ideas. He is indeed the greatest figure in modern Indian Renaissance.
Gurudev’s ideas and ideals will continue to inspire us in the days to come. I pay my tributes on his birthday today.
