With four tons in IPL 2016, Kohli is now the proud owner of the record of having scored the most tons by a batsman in a T20 tournament. He was earlier the joint highest with Australian Michael Klinger, who had scored three centuries in the span of four innings in the Natwest T20 Blast in 2015.
While scoring his fourth ton of the season, Kohli and also became the only batsman to score more than 800 runs in a single edition. He has currently scored a phenomenal 865 runs from 13 matches.
He has also extended his lead over teammate Chris Gayle’s 733-run mark for the most runs in a single season.

The other records the RCB captain has smashed this season include being the only player in the T20 tournament’s history to hit four tons in a single season.
Virat Kohli is also the only captain to have score 500-plus runs in three IPL editions, including 505 in 2015 and 634 in 2013. In doing so, the RCB captain broke Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar’s record, who had achieved this feat twice — 618 runs in 2010 and 553 runs in 2011.
Virat Kohli has so far scored 541 runs in eight matches with two centuries and four half-centuries an average of 90.16 and strike rate of 144.65.
