#NewDelhi : The Supreme Court has allowed Salvatore Girone, one of two Italian marines accused of killing two Indian fishermen, to return to Italy.
The apex court ruled that Girone can return to Italy while the United Nations tribunal decides on a jurisdictional issue between India and Italy
The SC bench also ordered Girone to not attempt to influence witnesses or destroy evidence in the case upon his return to Italy
In addition, the court asked the Italian ambassador to give an undertaking that he would bring Girone back to India to face trial when the time comes
Girone, who is presently in the custody of the apex court and residing in the Italian embassy, has said that he be allowed to go back to his native place till the arbitral panel decides the jurisdictional aspect in the matter,
