#Chamoli : Torrential downpour once again wreaked havoc in the state of Uttarakhand when local villagers recovered eight bodies from the debris of landslide caused by the cloudburst at Pithoragarh.
It is feared that more people are buried in the debris of the landslide caused by the heavy downpour in the region.
Chamoli district in Uttarakhand also witnessed another cloudburst which has claimed the lives of two people as of now. Few houses on the bank of the river Mandakani were washed away in the deluge and high alert have been sounded in the whole area. Houses on the embankments of the river were issued warning as residents climbed to safer places.

Seven routes in the Badrinath highway have been closed due to the fear of abrupt and big landslides in the region. The water levels in the different rivers of Uttarakhand have steadily increased due to the incessant Monsoon rain.
Places like Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar and Champawat districts have been issued warnings by the MeT department.
