CHENNAI: Two days after the AIADMK Rajya Shaba MP Sasikala Pushpa sought protection from the Parliament alleging that she had been slapped by her party leader and was asked to quit, the MP’s husband and son on Wednesday moved the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
According to 54-year-old T. Lingesvara Thilagan, and 21-year-old L. Pradeep Raja, they fear arrest by the Anna Nagar police for alleged offences under sections 294(b), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), and 506(ii) (Criminal intimidation) of IPC.
The petitioners claimed that several persons who bore a grudge against the MP, and her political rivals had foisted false cases against them. They further added that the FIR had been registered against them with an intention to cause further problems to the MP already in distress and there by put an end to her political career.
When the plea came up for admission before Justice S. Vaidyanathan, the judge adjourned the petition to August 8 for further hearing.
