Former Chief Secretary K. Gnanadesikan and IAS officer Atul Anand have been suspended

CHENNAI : Former Chief Secretary K. Gnanadesikan and IAS officer Atul Anand have been suspended.

Their suspension has been attributed to controversy surrounding in beach sand mining, according to a source.

Mr Gnanadesikan, who was Chief Secretary till early June, was later made Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). Mr. Anand was holding the posts of Managing Director of the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) and Commissioner of Geology and Mining.

While Mr. Gnanadesikan has served the government for 34 years, Mr. Anand belongs to the 1994 batch.
