KOZHIKODE: While the Pakistani military establishment would have been rattled by the surprise surgical strike by the Indian Army, Pakistani general Asim Bajwa, the director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)- the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces- tasted fire power of a different kind on Thursday from the hands of Keralites.
The Facebook page, purportedly of the General, became the target with Malayalis shooting him left, right, and centre with countless jibes, expletives and comments, all in Malayalam in response to his video post of an interview with a Pakistani news channel. In the interview he said Indian claim of making surgical strikes were baseless.
Just minutes after posting the video, Malayalis unleashed their social media ‘warfare’ on him flooding it with trolls and ridiculing messages
The comments ranged from the innocuous one liner ‘Po Mone Dinesha’, a famous line from a Malayalam film, to showering Malayalam swear words.
“Dear listeners, Akashavani is playing the song ‘Oru Poo mathram chodichu, oru pookalam nee thannu as requested by Navaz Sharif and friends from Pakistan,” another message said.
“General, have you heard of Malayalis. Now even if you forget Modi and the Indian Army, you won’t forget Malayalis. If you have any doubt, just go and ask Maria Sharapova,” a message said.
Tennis star Maria Sharapova had to face the Malayali online wrath for saying she didn’t know who Sachin Tendulkar was. Other celebrities who had to face Malayali troll attacks in the past include Hollywood star Pamela Anderson for asking the Kerala governemnt to stop using elephants for parading in the Thrissur pooram. Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson, actors Prithviraj and Hansika Motwani are some other victims of troll attacks.
