New Delhi: Yograj Singh, the father of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has revealed that said he will not be present at his sons wedding’, scheduled on November 30 at a gurdwara in Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.
In a report published by Hindustan Times, Yograj said
“It is my misfortune that I will not be attending the traditional wedding of my son … I had told Yuvraj’s mother that I will not attend the wedding if it is solemnised at any guru or dera sect or involves any religious guru. It’s destiny, I will not go. I only believe in God and not religious gurus.”
Yuvi’s father might be giving the wedding a miss but he did admit that he will be attend the mehndi function.
“But I will attend the mehndi function at Hotel Lalit on November 29. I was invited with respect by my son and my name is printed on the invites. I will go there as my son wants me to be there,” he said.
He also said people should spend judiciously at marriages and avoid spending crores while commenting on the money being splurged on weddings.
“I feel when women take over, men should just shut up and take the backseat. Yuvraj’s mother Shabnam has a lot of money and it is her choice how she organises the wedding, but she should spend carefully,” he added.
Yograj and Yuvi’s mother Shabnam have been seperated years ago. Since then, Yuvraj has been staying with his mother.
Yograj also held special praise for Hazel Keech, calling her an “angel”.
“Even though she has been brought up in a western culture, she is rooted and gives a lot of importance to values and traditions. I know she will bring a positive change in the family and bring the brothers and sisters close to each other. Yuvraj and Hazel are like parents to their younger brother and sisters,” he concluded.
Yuvi, who invited PM Narendra Modi to his weddint too, is also schedule to marry Hazel as per Hindu customs in December 2nd and it remains to be seen whether father Yograj attends that wedding or not.
