Kanpur: In a shocking incident, a man was kidnapped by a woman from his wedding venue just when he was about to tie the nuptial knot with his would-be-bride in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district.
According to reports, a woman, carrying a gun in her hands, barged into the wedding venue accompanied by a group of armed men and kidnapped the man at the gun point.
Hundreds of guests who were there to attend the marriage watched the entire incident in horror as Ashok Yadav – the man in question – was kidnapped at the gun point.
Ashok Yadav, a native of Mohanpurwa in Banda district, was getting married to a girl hailing from Maudaha town of Hamirpur district on the night of May 15 when he was kidnapped.
Ashok’s gun-trotting ex-lover claimed that she was upset as he betrayed her after dating for several months.
“The armed men took Ashok at gunpoint and threatened him to accompany them. After bundling him on the rear seat of a car, they sped away,” a police official later said.
“We were witnessing `tika’ rituals when six men armed with pistols asked Ashok to get down from the stage. We thought they are criminals demanding money but they didn’t ask anything and took Ashok with them,” an eyewitness said.
Ashok, a compounder, had an affair with a local girl, but he broke up with her early last year. Ashoks family then engaged him with a girl hailing from Maudaha town of Hamirpur district.
When his ex-lover heard of the wedding, she tried to dissuade him and his parents several times, police sources said.
The police, which is now investigating the matter, has so far failed to get any clue about Ashok.
