CRPF claimed to have gunned down 10-15 Maoists in Bastar’s Dantewada in a huge operation

A senior officer of the Chhattisgarh Police told The Times of India on Tuesday night: “Our forces, who went deep into the forests to carry out the operations, saw Maoists falling down after being hit by bullets. However, neither bodies nor weapons could be recovered during these operations.”Talking to ANI, DIG Dantewada P Sunderra called the mission a “very successful operation” and said it was coordinated by a joint command and control centre, and closely monitored from Raipur.

Sunderra said the first exchange of fire occurred on Sunday morning.

“10-15 Maoists were possibly killed in both exchanges and many injured,” he added.

Senior IPS officer Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar on April 28 took charge as the new Director-General of the Central Reserve Police Force, four days after the force lost 25 troopers in a deadly Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

Just after taking charge, Bhatnagar had asked his officers to give him a briefing about the Maoist ambush.
