Raipur: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday claimed to have gunned down 10-15 Maoists in Bastar’s Dantewada in a huge operation.
The operation was conducted days after the recent Maoist attack on a CRPF contingent that claimed the lives of 25 troopers.
A joint team of CRPF, CoBRA, Special Task Force and District Reserve Group carried out the operation.
On Wednesday, Maoists attacked a camp of security forces in Pusguda.
Sunderra said the first exchange of fire occurred on Sunday morning.
“10-15 Maoists were possibly killed in both exchanges and many injured,” he added.
Senior IPS officer Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar on April 28 took charge as the new Director-General of the Central Reserve Police Force, four days after the force lost 25 troopers in a deadly Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
Just after taking charge, Bhatnagar had asked his officers to give him a briefing about the Maoist ambush.
