New Delhi: It’s a huge embarrassment for Nitish Kumar government in Bihar! Income Tax on Tuesday launched raids at multiple companies linked to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Lalu Prasad Yadav, according to a report.
News agency ANI reported that the I-T today launched searches at 22 locations in Delhi and Gurugram on companies and people associated with Lalu Yadav, in connection with charges of benami land deals worth 1,000 crore.
The raids come after the BJP accused the RJD chief, his MP-daughter Misa Bharti and his two sons, both Bihar government ministers, of being involved in corrupt land deals worth over Rs 1,000 crore.
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad last week alleged that Lalu’s official residence was the address of the owners of the firms allegedly floated by his family members.
All the companies owned by Lalu Prasad’s family members for the purpose of these land transactions had no employees, no business activities and no turnover, Prasad claimed.
Bihar’s biggest shopping mall spread over 7.5 lakh square feet is coming up in Patna as part of such dubious transactions, he said.
Senior BJP leaders like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Griraj Singh, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, have been repeatedly attacking Lalu and the silence of Nitish Kumar.
Prasad dared Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take action against Lalu and his family.
