NEWDELHI: After her tenure as the longest-serving Congress President, Sonia Gandhi is enjoying a much-deserved vacation. She is reportedly staying at a resort in south Goa and is expected to be back in Delhi in the first week of January.
Sonia has also been interacting with guests at the resort and was even seen cycling there. Photos on social media showed a smiling Sonia allowing people to take selfies with her.
Sonia’s vacation comes soon after she handed over the charge of party affairs to her son Rahul Gandhi. Rahul took over as Congress President on December 16 ending speculations over his elevation.
He is currently holding meetings and taking stock of the recently concluded Gujarat and Himachal elections for which he campaigned from the forefront. He also attended the 133rd foundation day of Congress at the party headquarters in Delhi on Thursday.
The visit is a role reversal for sorts as it has always been Rahul whose vacations have been spoken on. He had last taken a short vacation ahead of Parliament Monsoon session in July when he visited his grandmother.
Sonia had reportedly visited the same hotel in Goa last year when pollution levels in Delhi had gone worse and she was recommended by her doctors to step out of the national capital.
