What Is Jump Trick: The jump trick is a method used by some petrol pumps to cheat customers by dispensing less fuel than they are charged for.
How Does It Work: At the start of refueling, the fuel meter quickly jumps from 0 to 10, 20, or even higher, instead of rising gradually as it should.
Machine Manipulation: Some petrol pumps adjust their machines to inflate readings, making it appear that more fuel is being dispensed than it actually is.
Normal Meter Behavior: Normally, the meter jump at the start should be under Rs 4-5. If it jumps to Rs 10, 20, or more, it’s likely a sign of tampering.
What Can You Do: Keep a close watch on the meter from the moment refueling starts. If you notice an unusual jump, immediately question the operator.
