Following Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil’s protest at Azad Maidan, Mumbai Traffic Police issued an advisory for August 29, Friday, announcing traffic restrictions in the Mankhurd and Trombay areas.

In the released notification, Mumbai Police stated that the Maratha quota protest march will reach Azad Maidan in south Mumbai on Friday, with traffic restrictions enforced from midnight, August 29, until further notice.

The march, which began in Beed, will pass through Navi Mumbai – Sion Panvel Marg – Panjarpol before culminating at Azad Maidan. The advisory has been issued to regulate traffic and avoid danger, obstruction, and inconvenience to the public.

Alternative Route

According to the statement, vehicular movement will be prohibited on Panvel-Sion Road, V.N. Purav Panvel-Sion Road (from Vashi Jakat Naka to Mankhurd Road), Eastern Freeway, P. D’Mello Road, Walchand Hirachand Marg, Dr. Dadabhai Nauroji Road, and Hajarimal Somani Road, except for emergency service vehicles.

Traffic restrictions will also apply to vehicles traveling from Vashi to Panjarpol-Freeway (southbound), Veer Jijabai Bhosale Marg to Trombay, and Chhedanagar to the Freeway.

Additionally, vehicles moving from V.N. Purav Road to Panjarpol-Freeway (southbound), Deonar Farm Road to Panjarpol, and Trombay Chita Camp to V.N. Purav Marg–Freeway–Panjarpol will not be permitted.
