Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of protecting individuals involved in vote theft.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Rahul Gandhi said he will only speak on matters backed by 100 per cent proof. He asserted that he loves the country, the Constitution, and the democratic process, and his remarks are aimed at protecting these values.
“The Chief Election Commissioner of India is protecting the people who have destroyed Indian democracy… Rahul Gandhi said’Gyanesh Kumar ji vote-choro ki raksha kar rahe hai. This is black and white evidence; there is no confusion in this,” he said.
The Lok Sabha LoP Leader of Opposition and Congress MP added, “I am not going to say anything on this stage that is not backed up by 100 per cent truth. I am somebody who loves my country, I love my constitution, I love the democratic process, and I am protecting that process. I’m not going to say anything here that is not going to be based on 100% proof that you can determine.”
Rahul Gandhi alleged that a total of 6,018 applications were filed impersonating voters in Aland, Karnataka. He claimed that the people whose names appeared on these applications never actually submitted them, but rather were automatically submitted by software. According to him, mobile numbers from various states outside Karnataka were used to manipulate voter information in Aland, specifically targeting Congress supporters.
“In Karnataka Aland, 6018 applications were filed impersonating voters. The people who filed these applications actually never filed them. The filing was done automatically using software. Mobile numbers from outside Karnataka, from different states, were used to delete numbers in Aland, and it was done targeting Congress voters,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi said that his role is to participate in the democratic system, not to protect it, as that responsibility lies with India’s institutions. However, he added that since the institutions are not fulfilling this duty, he has taken it upon himself to act.
Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, “Frankly, what I am doing here is not my work. My work is to participate in the democratic system. My work is not to protect the democratic system. That is the work of the institutions in India; they are not doing it, so I have to do it. By the end of our presentation, which will take 2-3 months, you will have no doubt in your mind that in India, vote theft has been done state after state, Lok Sabha after Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
