DGCA takes action against 140 Jet airlines pilotsNew Delhi: Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had taken action against 140 Jet Airways pilots on Saturday. It had issued show cause notice to 131 of them for flying without clearing the bi-annual pilots proficiency check (PPC). Notify that it is a mandatory exam for pilots.

The authority has asked to the airlines that why the licences of these pilots should not be cancelled. The DGCA has also asked the airline to remove its Chief of Training citing lack of supervision of flight crew.

The DGCA carried out a training audit after a Mumbai to Brussels Jet Airways flight dropped 5,000 feet in the Ankara airspace over Turkey as the pilot fell asleep and the co-pilot was busy on her iPad.

Meanwhile Jet Airways had claimed that they had not received any directive from the DGCA.

The airline said, “We are confident that our training meets all DGCA and International Standards and that we will be able to resolve any discrepancies or address any observations.”
