Two people were killed and three others were injured in a landslide near Jungle Chatti area on Kedarnath trek route on Wednesday.
District Disaster Response Force and Police personnel have reached the spot for rescue and relief operation.
In a similar incident on June 15, one person was killed and two others were injuried in a landslide near Jungle Chatti area in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district.
The Char Dham Yatra 2025 officially began on April 30 with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. The doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened on May 2, and those of Badrinath on May 4.
Kedarnath is one of the most revered temples in the country, dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva, it draws countless devotees and visitors from across the country every year.
Uttarakhand has been in the news after a recent tragic helicopter crash in Rudraprayag claimed seven killed, including five adults, one infant, and one crew member, on Sunday.
Taking cognizance of the accident Ministry of Civil Aviation suspended the operations of Aryan Aviation for the Char Dham Yatra with immediate effect after a helicopter of the company crashed in Uttarakhand.
Additionally, the Ministry of Civil Aviation also instructed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to immediately post officers from Airworthiness, Safety, and Operations to actively oversee all helicopter activity in the Kedarnath valley.
The Ministry also instructed the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority to establish a dedicated Command-and-Control Room to monitor real-time operations and ensure immediate escalation of any risk indicators.
