Infiltration Attempt Foiled By Security Forces
In a separate incident on September 1, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC).
Officials stated that alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC in the Balakot sector of Poonch district and challenged the suspected terrorists, resulting in a heavy exchange of fire.
“Troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC and immediately opened fire. The resulting encounter led to intense firing between the Army and the suspected infiltrators. The operation is still underway, and further details are awaited,” officials said.
Two Terrorists Killed On August 28
Earlier, on August 28, two terrorists were killed during an infiltration attempt in the Gurez sector of the LoC in Bandipora district. One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Bagu Khan, a Pakistani militant nicknamed ‘human GPS.’ Also known as ‘Samundar Chacha,’ Bagu Khan had been wanted by security forces for decades due to his involvement in over 100 infiltration attempts since 1995.
Officials noted that Bagu Khan was familiar with all infiltration routes and often facilitated cross-border movements without being caught, earning him the moniker ‘human GPS.’
