Dharmendra Pradhan Announces Major Changes in NEET Examination Process Amid Growing Concerns Over Exam Management

NewDelhi: Amid nationwide concerns over examination management and allegations related to paper leaks, nearly 22 lakh NEET aspirants are now expected to appear for the examination again on June 21, leading to growing frustration among students and parents across the country.

The developments have triggered widespread debate over the functioning of the examination system, with several students and families expressing concern over uncertainty, mental stress and repeated disruptions in the admission process.

In a major announcement, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that from next year onwards, the NEET examination will be conducted in CBT (Computer-Based Test) mode. According to the minister, the decision has been taken to make the examination process more transparent, secure and streamlined.

Officials believe that shifting NEET to a computer-based format could help reduce logistical challenges and strengthen monitoring mechanisms during examinations. The move is also being seen as an attempt to restore confidence among students following recent controversies surrounding examination management and alleged irregularities.

Over the past few weeks, concerns regarding paper leaks and examination integrity have remained at the centre of public and political discussions, with demands for stricter accountability and reforms in the testing process continuing to grow.

Education experts say the transition to CBT mode may improve transparency and operational efficiency, although questions regarding accessibility, infrastructure and implementation across different regions are also being raised.

The NEET examination remains one of the largest and most competitive entrance tests in India, with lakhs of students appearing every year for admission into medical colleges across the country.
