SC rejected Surender koli’s plea to review death sentenceNew Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the plea of 42-year-old Surender Koli to review the death sentence which had been rewarded to him. Koli is the prime accused of Nithari murder case. He had found guilty of murdering young women and children at a bungalow near Delhi.

The bench of Chief Justice HL Dattu, Justice Anil R Dave and Justice SA Bobde, in the first open court hearing of the review petition of death sentence cases, said that “we are fully satisfied that this court has not committed any error that may persuade us to review the order” upholding his death sentence.

Referring to the argument by senior counsel Ram Jethmalani that Surinder Koli was not given a proper legal assistance to defend his case, the court directed that in future the trial court will ensure that the accused in other cases be given proper legal assistance by a lawyer of expertise and who can devote time.

Notify that Koli had worked at the home of Moninder Singh Pandher in the area of Nithari in Noida on the outskirts of Delhi where as many as 19 girls are feared to have been raped and killed. He was sentenced to hang for murdering 14-year-old Rimpa Halder in 2005.
