Ranchi: The selection of new assembly Speaker of Jharkhand had been done without any oppose. MLA of Jhakhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Shashank Sekhar Bhoktawas has been selected as Speaker of assembly on Thursday.
The proceedings and formal announcement of selection of Bhokta has been conducted by Pro-tem Speaker Simon Marandi. Bhokta is the sole candidate to have filed nomination papers for the post.
The nomination of Bhokta had come after C P Singh had resigned from the post of Speaker on July 19. Singh had given his resignation just within 24 hours of trust vote won by government of Hemant Soren.
