Canberra: A suspicious packet had been found in the canteen of the #Canberra-based Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in #Australia after which hundreds of staff were evacuated on Tuesday.
Notify that the office of the department is close to Parliament House.
Police are investigating the package found in the staff canteen area at lunchtime.
Police said in the statement that it has cordoned off the area as a standard safety precaution.
The statement claimed, “Evacuations are underway at #DFAT and road closures implemented. Members of the #AFP (Australian Federal Police) Bomb Response Team are in attendance.”
Some reports claimed that hundreds of public servants were evacuated from the building which is close to Parliament House and police blocked traffic on state circle.
