Srinagar: Centre government had issued Rs 84 crore under the Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) for Jammu and Kashmir to boost development of the backward district of state.
Ali Mohammad Sagar, minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj said at a meeting convened to review the physical and financial achievements of the department said on Thursday, “A plan of Rs 84 crore under the BRGF from current year’s plan has been sent to the Centre for allocation.”
Spokesperson of government said that the plan has already been approved by the State Empowered Committee under the programme recently.
A decision also taken in the meeting that the state government would send a proposal of Rs 55 crore under the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikaran Abhyian (RGPSA) to the Centre for release of funds for capacity building of Panchayat representatives which would help in further strengthening of Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state.
The spokesperson said that threadbare discussions were held on various issues including proper implementation and judicious use of funds under BRGF, RGPSA, Rashtriya Gram Sawaraj Yojna (RGSY) and e-Panchayat.
