#Mumbai : #MukeshAmbani-group owned Reliance Jio will offer free Wi-Fi services during the T20 World Cup across six stadiums in country. The services, under the name JioNet, will be available to the spectators of the cricket matches in Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and cricket stadiums in Dharamshala, and Mohali, according to company officials.
The network is supported by 100 Gbps backhaul to ensure 15 Mbps speed for about 40,000 spectators during the matches. A user will have to generate a one time password (OTP) after giving his/her mobile number to access the services.
Currently, Jionet WiFi service is in few airports and tourist spots across major cities in the country. The company is in discussions with various state governments to offer free Wifi services across universities and other public areas.
Also, the company has done a soft launch of its 4G services in December last year and has given free SIM cards to all of its employees. The commercial launch is yet to take place.
