Legacy  factors that worked wonders for Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu

Legacy  factors that worked wonders for  #Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu#CHENNAI : Recreating the legacy of late former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran and becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for two consecutive terms, could not have been done without a comprehensive plan and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa seems to have executed her plan to precision, say experts. Here are five such factors that helped AIADMK create history:

The third front debacle
Analysts say the failed formation of a third front to take on the Dravidian parties was one of the most important factors. According to Perumal Mani, a Madurai-based political analyst, the third front that was supposed to ’emerge as an alternative to the Dravidian parties only ended up strengthening them. While both AIADMK and DMK have increased their vote share from what it was at the end of 2011 assembly polls, numerically the AIADMK seems to have made the third front work for its benefit. Interestingly, DMK, which had been in pursuit of an alliance with DMDK until a few weeks ago, is just about 3 per cent short of AIADMK.

The central and west push
Central and western districts of Madurai, Theni, Tiruppur and Erode became one of the strongest belts to give AIADMK a big push. The numbers in most other constituencies reveal a close contest between the DMK and AIADMK. Analysts say that the industrial belt of Tirupur and Erode district seem to have shown their appreciation for factors like law and the way the AIADMK government managed the power situation.

Cracking the whip
Towards the end of her previous term AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa was seen sacking many party representatives and replacing them with people she considered efficient. A senior politician says when Jayalalithaa cracks her whip her party men they tend to listen. “There is no defiance. Even during the campaign, the ones who slacked and fouled were expelled. That sent the others working.”

Milking the two-leaves symbol
Going to polls with the symbol on which MGR contested and created history, still rides on a legacy factor and Jayalalithaa used it at the most appropriate time. A DMK leader explained what really marked the shift in her strategy was when she got allies, mostly smaller parties and made them contest on AIADMK’s symbol.

The AIADMK style of ‘decentralisation’
The AIADMK as a party works on the directions of one person and has been seen as a centralised and authoritative party. But this time the party acted in a decentralised manner in executing a central plan. “A district secretary in the AIADMK is much more powerful than his counterpart in the DMK. He reports to the party supremo but also makes a lot of decisions locally. The local representative is allowed to micromanage at his own level using traditional methods,” said political analyst Perumal Mani.

Yes, it is good win, Tamil Nadu  ladies support to ADMK, that is the reason majority votes came from ladies, Amma proved again, she has power of politics
