New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to persuade voters today in Chhattisgarh ahead of the 2013 Assembly polls. As it is known that UPA Chair person Sonia Gandhi had done a rally just one day before. Meanwhile BJP’S prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had also addressed two rallies in the state yesterday. Now Rahul will have to address two rallies in Rajnandgaon and Kanker districts.
Criticizing the state government for failing to curb Naxal violence, Sonia reminded audience that Congress leaders have sacrificed their life in the fight against Naxal violence. Our state leaders died because of Naxalism here. We are missing them today. The Chhattisgarh government only talks big about providing security, but does nothing,” Sonia added. Rahul will address two rallies in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Friday, a day after his mother Sonia Gandhi’s rally in the state. BJP’S prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi also addressed two rallies in the state yesterday. Rahul will address rallies in Rajnandgaon and Kanker districts.
Sonia continued, We have given employment to the poorest of poor here. We have given Chhattisgarh enough funds, but there are no signs of roads in many parts of the state and even farmers have been neglected by the BJP government,” she told audience. Sonia did not forget to remind the audience that the Congress government has brought the Land Acquisition Act, which will “directly benefit our tribal brothers and sisters. Sonia promised that “for regions affected by Naxalism, Congress government will launch schemes for rehabilitation”.
On the other hand BJP leader Narendra Modi while batting for Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, focused most of his energies in targeting political rival and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar while addressing rallies in Chhattisgarh yesterday. Modi compared the response of Raman Singh government after a Naxal attack in the state in May in which several Senior Congress leaders were killed to that of Nitish Kumar’s. Dr Raman Singh met the victims, instituted an investigation to look into the shortcomings of the government. He added, “When the Bihar Chief Minister was questioned on the blasts, his arrogance was evident. See how an empathetic Chief Minister behaves and how an arrogant Chief Minister behaves.
