New Delhi: A special CBI court two weeks ago convicted extradited gangster Abu Salem in a 2001 fake passport case. Charged gangster Salem is slammed with 7 years of jail in the fake passport case.
Judge M.V. Ramana Naidu held the underworld don guilty under different sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for attaining a passport under a fabricated name and address from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
Abu Salem had purportedly obtained the fake passport under the pretended identity of Ramil Kamil Malik by submitting fake documents including forged birth date, residential proof and name of father, to the Hyderabad Regional Passport Office, supposedly in involvement with some government officials and private persons in 2001.
In total, Salem obtained three passports which included one for his wife, another for his girlfriend and starlet Monica Bedi, apart for himself. The trial against the gangster began in Hyderab in 2009.
