Mulayam Singh Yadav tears into PM Modi and CM Yogi over GST, BHU; says no plan to float a new party.Lucknow: Launching an attack on the BJP-led Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government, former Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that incidents of communal violence has spiked under the regime of Modi government in the last three years.

“Girls are not safe in BHU. There’s no law and order in Uttar Pradesh,” said Singh, a three-time chief minister of UP. “The Yogi government is not fulfilling any of its promises.”

Violence erupted inside Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus after students, protesting against an alleged eve-teasing incident. Dozens of students were detained in connection with the violence later. FIRs against 1,000 students has also been filed.

Speaking on the demonetisation, the septuagenarian said, “Demonetisation was a setback for people. They had to give in their hard earned money.”

“I had given employment to people, but nothing is happening for job creation now,” said Yadav.

“Forget villages, even Lucknow is not getting uninterrupted power supply,” said the veteran political leader.

“My blessings always with Akhilesh as a father, but I don’t agree with his decisions,” he added.

Speculations were rife on Singh’s announcement of the new party along with virtually defunct Lok Dal.

The hint of an imminent split in the SP came on Sunday when Mulayam and his brother-aide Shivpal Yadav stayed away from a state convention of the party – which they had founded 25 years ago – saying they were not invited.
