NewDelhi: The metro started extra train trips from Wednesday and will run 186 extra trips every day from Thursday.
DMRC was directed by the Supreme Court-mandated EPCA on Tuesday to slash fares during off-peak hours and run more trains to incentivise public transport. DMRC is yet to take a decision on cutting fares.
“DMRC will run 3,317 train trips from tomorrow (Thursday) instead of 3,131 to provide increased capacity to the public in this weather,” a DMRC spokesperson said. Approximately 80-90 trips were added on Wednesday itself.
“The trips are increased by inducting trains from the operational maintenance reserve by optimising the maintenance schedule,” he said. Additional ticketing operators, customer facilitation agents and CISF personnel have also been deployed.
