Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraben exercised her franchise in Gandhinagar in the second and final phase polling on 93 seats of Gujarat assembly elections.
According to reports, PM Modi’s 97-year-old mother arrived at the polling booth despite suffering from bad health.
The voting on 93 seats in the second and last phase of Gujarat Election began at 8:00 today.
PM Modi and several top brasses of BJP including Amit Shah, Arun Jaitley and LK Advani will cast their vote in the second phase of Gujarat elections.
The Election Commission has deployed hundreds of companies of the Central Armed Police Forces, 12 companies of Rapid Action Force and 19 companies of the State Reserve Police Force to ensure law and order.
There are 851 candidates in the fray.
Elections are being held in Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara and Chhota Udepur districts from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
A total of 25,575 polling booths have been set up in 14,523 places.

The first phase of the polls for 89 seats in the 182-seat state assembly was held on December 9 with over 60 percent polling registered.
The voter turnout in the first phase of the polls was 68 percent.
Meanwhile, repolling will be held on Friday in two booths of Jamjodhpur constituency, two booths in Una, one in Nijjar, and one in Umargam. The results will be declared on December 18.
