We salute Indian women on international women’s day

New Delhi, 8th March: Women have been an important part of the India. If we talk about Indian film industry, Indian Navy, Indian Army, Politics or in medical field women are everywhere. Barring a few exceptions, their major contribution has been as actors, singers, or doctors. On International Women`s Day, March 8 we lists the women who have dared to step into uncharted territory in recent times. They have not only carved a niche for themselves but are pioneering a new trend that will perhaps encourage others to follow suit.

These are the important personalities:-

Namrata Rao (editor): An IT student, she decided to pursue her passion for filmmaking as an editor and made her debut with 2008 movie, ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’, a hit. Later she edited movies like ‘Ishqiya’, ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha’, ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ and ‘Shanghai’. She also showed her creativity on the editing table while cutting and trimming hits like ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’, and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. Rao has two Filmfare awards in her kitty for ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha’ and ‘Kahaani’.

Sonia Gandhi: an Italian-born Indian politician, who has served as President of the Indian National Congress party since 1998. She is the widow of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi and belongs to the Nehru–Gandhi family.

Kiran Bedi: An Indian social activist and a retired IPS officer.  Bedi joined the police service in 1972 and became the first woman officer in the IPS. She has also founded two NGOs in India: the Navjyoti Delhi Police Foundation for welfare and preventative policing in 1988.

Sunita Williams: an Indian American astronaut and a United States Navy officer who holds the record for longest space flight by a woman. She was assigned to the International Space Station as a member of Expedition 14 and Expedition 15. In 2012, she served as a flight engineer on Expedition 32 and then commander of Expedition 33.

Aishwarya Roy Bachchan: An Indian film actress and model. She won the Miss India and Miss World pageants of 1994, and has received two Filmfare Awards, two Screen Awards, and two IIFA Awards for her performances in Hindi films of Bollywood. She is a leading contemporary actress of Indian cinema and is often cited in the media as the “most beautiful woman in the world.
