Karnataka: Political parties to rope celebrities for campaigning in polls

Bangalore, 10th April: Hardly a month left for the high-stake state assembly elections in Karnataka, the political parties are now taking in to the film stars and celebrities to lead in for campaigning in the state.

The filing of nomination papers for the Karnataka Assembly elections begins on Wednesday.

According to Reports, on Wednesday, the ruling BJP, for which the assembly polls in Karnataka is very crucial, has decided to put in field popular Kannada actress Tara for poll campaigning for now.

The party is also likely to rope in big stars, including Hema Malini and Smriti Irani, in the last fortnight ahead of polling.

Similarly, the Congress is also ready with an array of big stars like Ramya and Bhavna for poll campaigning meanwhile, veteran Kannada actor Ambareesh is also on board and will possibly contest from the Mandya constituency.

Telegu superstar and Union Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi will be wooing the voters by campaigning for the Congress in constituencies on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border.

Pooja Gandhi, an A-list Kannada actor, will be seen campaigning for mining magnate B Sriramulu’s BSR party. This would be the actress’ third political avatar as she started her political journey with the JD(S) in 2012 and then switched over to BS Yeddyurappa’s KJP and finally left that after she felt sidelined.

Not just the political parties, the Election Commission too has roped in filmstars like Puneet Rajkumar and Aindrita Ray to urge people to vote in the coming elections.
