Mumbai, 13th April: UPA’s main ally NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Saturday demanded that the ruling UPA should decide the name of its prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 General Elections.
Speaking in Thane, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief said the UPA should call a meeting and discuss the PM candidate for 2014 polls.
He also projected early polls, noting that the ruling alliance has become weak post DMK pullout over the Sri Lankan issue.
Pawar also announced that he would not contest the next Lok Sabha Elections.
The remarks came just days after Pawar ruled out the formation of a Third Front for the 2014 elections.
“There is no possibility of a Third Front as talked about by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh,” Pawar said.
Pawar’s remarks have also come at a time when the opposition NDA is being urged by JD-U to decide its PM candidate well in advance of the 2014 General Elections.
