“Our government lead in India’s active participation”-PM said

New Delhi, May 23: Just after the visit of Chinese premier, PM Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said, “Relations with China are showing our ability to manage difficult issues while working together in areas of convergence.” Manmohan Singh also said while answering critics of his foreign policy, “In our own immediate neighbourhood, we have been able to manage some very difficult challenges to our bilateral relationships.” The government was recently attacked for taking too long to react to an 19-km incursion by Chinese troops in Ladakh. But the fact is, the report card of Manmohan Singh was quite thin and skimmed the surface on foreign policy front and their is no mention of any of neighbour of India except China which has been play for this government.Their was neither any mention of Afganistan nor of Pakistan.

Manmohan Singh justify the report card by saying, “I can say with some satisfaction that we have placed the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation on firmer foundations. We have increased regional economic cooperation all around the Indian subcontinent.”

The PM said, “Our government has taken the lead in India’s active participation in the Asian community-building process. India is today warmly welcomed to almost every important Asian and Asia-Pacific forum. India has increased its economic and security engagement with the Indian Ocean and the Indo-Pacific region.” It clearly showed that UPA government has drawn its attention on the southeast and Asia-Pacific regions.
