PM become synonymous of indecision, inability and silence – Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, May 23: “Manmohan Singh is the prime minister but neither a leader of the country nor the leader of his own party. Dr Singh’s colleagues sit with him in the Cabinet and look towards the UPA chairperson for directions… The country had to face the consequences of this split leadership,” Sushma Swaraj said.

The BJP’s member of Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said, “I don’t remember any other time when the institution of the prime minister had become the butt of sarcasm and humour.” Jaitley also said that Manmohan Singh had become synonymous with indecision, inability and silence.

On the fourth anniversary of UPA government, Rajya Sabha member of BJP, Arun Jaitley and leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj targeted on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by saying that he was neither leader of his party nor of the country. This attack comes just a day after BJP discussed its campaign strategy at party’s parliamentary board meeting, attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. It is the idea of Narendra Modi to just  focus on failures of the UPA.

While attacking on UPA government, Swaraj said, “We are surprised. What is the UPA is celebrating? Is it celebrating price rise, corruption, lack of respect for democratic institutions or the environment of gloom. They should instead have introspect and seek an apology from the country.”

On talking about PM cnadidate of NDA, Swaraj said, “Whether there will be a face before elections or not and if there will be then who it will be is a decision which will be taken by BJP parliamentary board in consultation with NDA partners.” To a question if Advani was ruled out, she said “when did we say that when parliamentary board decides his name will not be discussed?”

The two leaders were of the view that politics had become bi-polar and that in a coalition the anchor had to be one of these parties. They ducked questions about projecting Modi as prime ministerial candidate.

BJP leaders also alleged that the PM’s dinner was taking place amid an atmosphere of negativity, pessimism and gloom and that the government had failed on economy, foreign policy, internal security and probity.
