BJP was no longer the “same idealistic party”- Advani

New Delhi: Besides L K Advani had given his resignation to National BJP President Rajnath Singh, but senior party leaders are visiting to his home in bid to convince him to take back his resignation. Uma Bharti and Nitin Gadkari had visited his home to convince Advani. Party leaders continued their efforts to mollify the party patriarch, whose home witnessed string of visitors since morning. Uma Bharti had met Sushma Swaraj before heading to the residence of Advani. Jaswant Singh had also phoned to Advani and ask him to re-think about his decision over resignation. He told the media that the questions he raised in his resignation letter must be addressed by the party.

BJP President Rajnath Singh said, “I want to make one thing clear that on some channels news has been telecast that RSS has said this or that. I want to make it absolutely clear that Sangh has not said anything. “I have inquired from people in Sangh, whether they’ve made a statement. They told me that there has been no statement from their side, all this news is completely baseless.”

There is also a chance that the party has decided to move on if it fails to pacify Advani as BJP President Rajnath Singh is going to Banswara in Rajasthan on Tuesday, Arun Jaitley is going abroad and Narendra Modi will be staying in Gujarat.
Miffed at Narendra Modi being anointed as poll campaign chief LK Advani had on Monday resigned from key party posts shooting off an angry resignation letter to Rajnath Singh saying the BJP was no longer the “same idealistic party” created by Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, Nanaji Deshmukh and Vajpayee.

Advani said in the one-page letter, “For some time I have been finding it difficult to reconcile either with the current functioning of the party, or the direction in which it is going. Most leaders of ours are now concerned just with their personal agendas.” He also said that BJP was no longer the “same idealistic party” created by Deendayal Upadhyaya, Nanaji Deshmukh, Shyama Prasad Mookerjee and Vajpayee.
