Madhya Pradesh- Woman dies after acid attack by ex-lover

Morena: Whether the Supreme Court had made a vital change in procedure of sell and purchase of acid in country, a case of acid attack had been registered from Morena District of Madhya Pradesh. A 26-year-old woman has died and three of her family members have been seriously injured after a man, allegedly her former lover, threw acid on them at their home.

The incident had happened on Saturday night when the accused barged into the house of this woman in Porsa town. Sources said that the accused was the former landlord of victim.

A family member of victim said, “He wanted to meet her and asked me to call her and even threatened to kill her if she did not agree. He was drunk and had an acid bottle in his hand. He went to the room where she was sleeping along with her relatives and threw acid on them.”

Woman died in district hospital of Morena, was burnt 60%. The others who were injured in the attack include her grandmother and two cousins. 

The investigating officer of this case said, “The woman has said in her dying declaration that they were in a relationship and has added that the accused took this step because of some misunderstanding,”

The woman had refused to stay with the accused after the split with her husband. She instead chose to move into her parental house, sources said.

There is also a case registered against the accused and he was out on bail in connection with the smuggling of alcohol.
