Three Maoists killed in encounter in Odisha

MaoistBhubaneswar:Security forces killed three Maoists in a ferocious encounter in a forest area of Rayagada district of Odisha on Friday.

A joint team of CRPF, Odisha’s elite anti-Maoist Special Operation Group (SOG) and the police was carrying out combing operation in the forest when the armed Maoists challenged them.

Rayagada Superintendent of Police Rajesh Pandit said that this encounter took place during a combing operation by security men inside Tureighat forest near Kirambadunguri village on Thursday night.

Pandit said that as the security personnel retaliated, a fierce exchange of fire took place with the ultras which continued well past midnight.

He said that the bodies of three Maoists were found after the encounter, adding that some arms and ammunition were also found at the spot inside the forest.
